Epona figurines have been documented since 300 BCE. She was widely known and followed in Gaul, Germany, Britain, Greece, Africa, Spain and Yugoslavia, to name a few.
Her statue was found in stables and in homes. She is often seen sitting side saddle on a mare ( the woman’s position) and is accompanied by a foal. Epona was associated with nurturing, fertility and abundance. Which explains why successful crop outcome and flowing rivers were attributed to her.
